Erasmus+ Conference: assessment and perspectives

FEBRUARY 2021

The event, organised by the Erasmus+ France Agency, was the opportunity to present the new multi-annual Erasmus+ programme 2021-2027 and to take stock of the achievements of the previous programme.

The event, organised on Youtube, took place in two parts: a one-day "webinar" type event and an afternoon of question/answer sessions.

Although the overall architecture of the programme remains the same, some major developments are worth noting. Here are a few of them:

1 - The programme is intended to be more inclusive, digital and ecological. These cross-cutting themes will have to be integrated into the projects and European outreach strategies.
Applications for funding for mobility projects (Key Action 1) will be based – for all sectors (school education, vocational education and training, adult education) – on an accreditation system, similar to what already exists with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).

An accreditation is the confirmation of the holder's commitment (to its internationalisation strategy formalised in an Erasmus+ Plan) for the entire duration of the 2021-2027 programme. Obtaining it almost exclusively conditions the guarantee of and access to funding for the mobility of the beneficiary organisation. An application for accreditation can be submitted individually – for a single project leader organisation – or in a consortium for a given sector.

Non-accredited organisations may choose to:

   - join an accredited consortium,

   - carry out small and short mobility projects (from 6 to 12 months for a maximum of 30 mobilities)

   - apply at the next call for accreditation.

The results of the 2020 Call for Accreditation will be known on 26 February 2021.

2 - Students' meetings previously under Key Action 2 (partnership) move to Key Action 1 (mobility).

3 - New budget item: the programme provides for the funding of "preparatory visits" for all sectors to foreign organisations in order to prepare mobility projects.

4 - "Small scale" partnerships: these are bilateral projects ranging from 6 to 24 months. The budget will therefore be smaller, but the application forms will be simplified. This type of partnership aims to enable the smallest structures to engage in an Erasmus+ action.

5 - New Europass: a revised tool for a better self-assessment of one's competences and their valorisation. Watch its presentation video.

6 - Opening of the "Jean Monnet Actions" to the school sector.

7 - Securing of recent initiatives: European Universities, Centres of Excellence for Vocational Training, DiscoverEU…

The general conditions of each future call will be specified in the "Programme Guide" and the Bulletin officiel de l'Education Nationale (BOEN). If the date of publication of the guide has not been officially fixed yet, the document should be available from March onwards. The calls for proposals should be launched at the same time, for an application during April/May 2021 and a project launch at the start of the school year 2021-2022.
