Programme: Erasmus+ School staff mobility

Theme: Internationalization of schools and high schools of the academy of Dijon

Duration: December 2020 – Present

M.A.D.E. in Bourgogne 2020-2022"

Mobility of the Academy of Dijon in Europe”

The Dijon Academy's project, entitled "Dijon Learning Academy" was launched at the instigation of the Rector in 2018 for a period of 5 years. It concerns all students from Côte d'Or, Nièvre, Saône et Loire and Yonne.

Burgundy, a predominantly rural area, is facing two major challenges: "to leave no pupil without a solution, and no area without a project".

This is why the international opening up of all Burgundy schools has been declared as one of the 12 priorities of this learning academy as follows: "Supporting open-mindedness, valuing initiative and encouraging international openness".

In order to make the international strategy of the academy a reality in every school, the European mobility project "MADE in Bourgogne" - bringing together 30 schools of the academy and the rectorate - was proposed as a consortium and selected in 2018 in the framework of the Erasmus+ call for proposals.

An assessment carried out at N+1 in October 2019 with the steering group and members of the consortium led to the following diagnosis: the teams and their heads of schools expressed the wish to continue the Erasmus+ project "Mobility of the Dijon Academy in Europe" towards more "professionalizing" actions, in order to meet the needs expressed in the perspective of the high school reform undertaken by the Ministry of National Education and the implementation of the new baccalaureate.

In support of this strategy and thanks to the impetus given by the Erasmus+ agency during its national conference in Dijon on 7 and 8 November 2019, the rector services also wished to commit themselves, in accordance with ministerial incentives and reference texts (BOEN 2019).

Indeed, the high school reform and its implementation in all Burgundian high schools at the start of the 2019-2020 school year has raised urgent needs in terms of professionalisation and the acquisition of new skills for teachers.

The new baccalaureate (2021) reinforces language assessment and European and international openness, with geographical and cultural deepening. In connection with the issue of European citizenship, it aims to "exercise students' critical faculties and consolidate their civic education in order to become responsible and free citizens, aware of their rights but also of their duties".

In this particular context, the steering group of the "MADE in Burgundy" project has clearly chosen to position itself on a new Erasmus+ Mobilities 2020 project, this time aiming mainly at structured courses or "turnkey" type courses, organised by referenced European partners and experts on specific themes.

This type of mobility has attracted academic teams, inspection bodies and above all teaching staff and their institutions.

Under this impetus, the Délégation Académique des Services de l'Education Nationale 21 has also expressed the wish to join the MADE 2020 consortium in order to include the promotion of languages from nursery school onwards and to educate in the values of European citizenship, as promoted by the Ministry of National Education.

The MADE 2020 project provides for mobility for the staff of the Dijon academy in a dozen European countries. The participants will study various themes that are relevant to the points of tension existing in the schools: language skills, interdisciplinarity, classroom management, school climate, inclusion, benevolence...

The GIP-FTLV's Europe International Department in Burgundy will continue to support and advise the members of the consortium throughout the implementation of this new project.

Due to the health situation in 2020, the start of this project has been postponed to 2021. If the context allows it, the first mobilities should take place as of the next school year 2021-2022.
